We believe that 2015 will bring a change in the world of books. This we believe will happen with the public launch of Woodpie.
It no longer belongs just to us, but is yours too. Woodpie is now public. You can log in with your Facebook id and be a part of it. Once you use it, we think you too will believe that Woodpie will change the ways of reading.
Genuine Reviews
A recommendation from a known person weighs more than the thousands from unknown people.
The reviews on Woodpie will help you choose a book from the many that are published each day. With the heavy marketing of books, it is hard not to judge a book by its cover. Many times we are misled into buying books that are not meant for us. Book reviews are often advertisements disguised as opinions. We found that the only way to get a genuine recommendation is through friends. A recommendation from a known person is certainly more valuable than the many we receive from unknown people. Woodpie helps you get that.
Book Sharing
Share the book you have read, and get an unread book free.
It is not just a book recommendation that you get from a friend, but you can get a book too. Woodpie facilitates exchange of books. You can share the book you have read in exchange for a book that you want to read. You can choose to meet the friend and share the book, and get to read another book without spending any money. This may not only strengthen existing friendships, but also help you forge new ones. Sharing books also helps in saving the environment, without curtailing the spread of knowledge. Above all, it dispels the idea that reading is for loners.
Bookshelf
A man is known by the company he keeps and the books he reads.
You can display your collection on the bookshelf. We do not mean to say that you can show off. But exhibiting your books has its benefits. It shows what kind of a reader you are, which helps your friends know your taste in books. This can help you get in touch with like minded people. We believe in the adage, ‘A man is known by the company he keeps and the books he reads.’
We have also tried to be true to our commitment to physical books, by designing the bookshelf like the wooden ones in real life.
Your privacy
Books are far more valuable than jewels. Only you should hold the key to your book rack.
They books you display belong to you. Only you have the right to decide what to do with your books. Only you can choose who can see your books and only you decide who to share them with. You can list your books as public, where anyone on Woodpie can view your books. You could also list them only for your connections, where only people you have added as your connection can view your books. You could also choose not to share your books with anyone and keep them private.
Wish list
Only when friends know your wishes, they can help you fulfill them.
You can also list the books you are looking for in your wish list. This will not only help you remember the books that you are yet to read, but can also help your friends know what books you are looking for. Your friends could then offer these books in exchange.
We thought of how we remind ourselves of the things that we don’t want to forget. We use post-it notes. Then why do we simply make mental note of the books we want to read? The books in the wish list are displayed in the form of colourful post-its.
Log on to Woodpie and read away.
Happy Reading!
